Our Wednesday night gathering is – along with our Sunday service of worship, fellowship, and food – our other weekly mainstay for conversation, enrichment, and fun.
We call it ‘in-Formation’.
It’s sorta like a ‘Bible study’, but also not. We do study the Bible sometimes, but we also examine ideas, stories, and opinions in literature, history, art, and the news. Sometimes we read, sometimes we watch a film or TV clip, always we discuss.
It’s called ‘in-Formation’ for a reason.
It does involve ‘information’ but being ‘informed’ is not our only goal. We get tons of great information day in and day out at class. The goal in class is to conquer the material, take the test, and make the grade. The goal at ECM is different: we seek knowledge not for the sake of an exam or grade, but to think about how our knowledge should form us into the people God is calling us to be. The ‘information’ we encounter and discuss is geared towards formation into the people we are called to be. At the same time, we recognize that this task is a process of discovery. It’s not that we get enough know-how, finish the degree, arrive, graduate, move on. We are, on the contrary, always seeking, questioning, growing, changing, arriving. Always in formation.
Join us on the journey!
